901 COUPE
Notas
The Porsche 901 Coupe represents the original designation of what became the iconic 911, featuring Type 745 air-cooled 2.0-liter flat-six engine with overhead camshafts and dual Solex carburetors producing 130 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 116 lb-ft torque at 4,600 rpm. Only 82 examples were built between September 1963 and November 1964 before Peugeot claimed trademark rights to three-digit designations with zero as middle number, forcing rename to 911.
Racing variants produced up to 210 horsepower while production models maintained 130 hp output, establishing performance characteristics and rear-engine layout that defined Porsche sports car philosophy for decades. The 901 designation now represents rare collector status among early 911 examples, with surviving original 901-badged examples commanding significant premium over early 911-badged cars from same production period.
