This video showcases a 2013 Scion FR-S completing a lap at Texas World Speedway in an impressive 1:59.1. Achieving a sub-2 minute lap in a low-horsepower car like the FR-S is a rare feat, highlighting the car's capabilities with a few key modifications.
The car's setup included stock shocks, Stoptech pads, steel brake lines, Motul 600 fluid, upgraded springs, Whiteline sways and top hats, a cat-back exhaust, camber bolts, and a baseline 93 octane tune. It ran on Motegi 17x7.5 wheels with PZero 225/45-17 tires. The driver noted that more camber and different tires would have further improved performance, as the current setup exhibited a significant push.
The FR-S is recognized as an excellent vehicle for learning how to drive quickly on track. SCCA's Club Trials offer a great opportunity to experience your car in a safe, instructional environment.
