Join us for a thrilling lap at Parcmotor Castelloli, a track our Barcelona friends enthusiastically recommended, and they were absolutely right! This circuit offers an exciting mix of elevation changes, challenging corners, and even an overpass that gives off serious Suzuka vibes. Our visit coincided with the Barcelona Superlap event, making the experience even more special, especially with many cars featuring K-swap engines.
A huge shoutout to Enric and the entire crew for their incredible hospitality and support. While I, Kostas, might have struggled to keep pace with Robert's formidable K24 MR2, the spirit of the event was fantastic.
This lap is part of an epic road trip across Europe's best race tracks in our 1991 Mazda MX-5. Our journey, which started in Athens, Greece, and led us all the way to Barcelona, Spain, was filled with challenges, including car problems and even a broken key in the middle of nowhere before Monaco. But thanks to the 'can-do' attitude of our Spanish friends, everything was eventually sorted.
Parcmotor Castelloli, established in 2009, is a relatively new track, but its layout is truly fantastic, utilizing the natural terrain with significant elevation changes. It's a track that demands time to master, and my first visit in December 2019 certainly proved that. I'm grateful to Robert for letting me follow him for a few laps, though keeping up was a challenge, partly due to my unfamiliarity with the track and partly because my car, running on Federal FZ-201 tires (as Nankang AR-1s weren't available in the correct size), lacked optimal traction.
The day took an unexpected turn when a tire exploded, leaving me stranded. However, the amazing Barcelona crew quickly found a spare set of wheels, allowing me to continue. Despite the eventful day, Parcmotor Castelloli is a track I'd love to revisit and truly unlock its potential. The atmosphere at Barcelona Superlap events is always welcoming, with cool cars and passionate enthusiasts enjoying track time without the usual uptight formalities.
Stay tuned for our next videos, which will chronologically cover our laps at Portimao and Estoril. We're excited to share more of our European track adventures with you!
