Emil Banno may be new to cars, but his pace says otherwise.
The half Filipino, half Japanese driver and founder of Euromonkeys only began driving with Autoholic Racing just over a year ago, coming from a background focused primarily on motorbikes. Despite his limited experience, he set a 1:56.48 lap around Clark International Speedway (CIS) in his 992-based Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
That time is just 0.23 secs off the current lap record held by Paolo Mantolino in an Audi R8 V10 Plus, and stands as the fastest Porsche 911 on Time Attack Manila’s Top 100 list.
And there is still more to come.
The team believes Emil can break into the 1:54 to 1:55 range soon, which would put him in contention for the outright lap record at CIS.
