The 718 GT4 weighs 1470 kg fully refueled with petrol, without the driver. My 981 GT4 weighed 1430 kg fully refueled with petrol, also without the driver, on the same calibrated scale.
Both cars are equipped with 918 carbon fiber seats and the Clubsport package, which includes a roll cage, fire extinguisher, and racing belts. Both cars also have steel brakes.
The 718 GT4 has less equipment to minimize weight (no cruise control, no PDC, etc.), but it is still 40 kg heavier than the 981 GT4.
Timing was done using the Porsche Track App on my iPhone 11 Pro, with a 1Hz update rate. For better accuracy, it’s preferable to use the car’s GPS with the Track App, which provides a 10Hz update rate. Alternatively, I use my VBOX Sport 20Hz for more precise timing.
This car is straight from the factory, with no wheel alignment done yet, and it drives pretty well right out of the box. The 981 GT4, on the other hand, didn’t feel as good initially—...
