Day 5 of the 2026 One Lap of America is officially in the books, and Smoko Motorsport is continuing to climb the leaderboard! After another full day of competition at Motorsports Park Hastings, the team fought their way from 28th overall up to 23rd — proving that consistency, reliability, and seat time are starting to pay off in a big way.
The day kicked off with the morning time attack session where Morgan put down a strong run and finished 18th overall against some incredibly competitive machinery from across the country. As temperatures rose for the afternoon session, Doug jumped behind the wheel and delivered an even stronger result, finishing 12th overall and pushing the C7 Z06 closer to the front of the field.
For the first time all week, the car felt completely dialed in. No mechanical issues. No tuning problems. No late-night thrash sessions in the paddock. Just clean laps, reliable power, and a Corvette that finally feels ready to attack the rest of One Lap of America.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was having Jason — our engine tuner from Arizona — join us trackside in Nebraska. By pure coincidence he happened to be nearby and spent the day supporting the team, helping monitor the car, reviewing data, and making sure everything stayed happy under pressure. Having the person responsible for tuning this beast at the track with us was a massive confidence boost, and we can’t thank him enough for making the trip out.
This event is a true endurance challenge: thousands of street miles between tracks, multiple competition stages per day, almost no sleep, and nonstop pressure on both drivers and car. After battling reliability issues earlier in the week, finally putting together a clean day at Motorsports Park Hastings feels like a huge turning point for the Smoko Motorsport team.
