Roadtec 01

The Metzeler Roadtec 01 is a sport touring tire designed for a wide range of motorcycles, from sport-tourers to urban roadsters. It targets riders who demand confident handling in diverse conditions, including wet, dry, and low-friction surfaces. The Roadtec 01 distinguishes itself through a combination of enhanced grip, increased mileage, and adaptability.

This tire utilizes a unique tread pattern to maximize mechanical traction, offering perceptible benefits during acceleration and braking. The front tire features a high number of transverse grooves to effectively grip the road and improve water drainage. The rear tire incorporates both long and short grooves with opposing orientations; the short grooves enhance stability during braking by preventing lateral movement. Metzeler claims the Roadtec 01 has a larger contact patch than its predecessor, which contributes to improved grip.

The Roadtec 01 incorporates a dual-compound layout on radial rears. The central stripe comprises a balanced mix of silica and carbon black to promote high-speed stability, heat dispersal, and a balance between abrasion resistance and grip. The shoulders feature a full-silica compound, similar to the front tire, to deliver excellent grip, even on low-friction surfaces. The UTQG treadwear rating is 168.
