Canaan Motor Club Notes

Canaan Motor Club is a motorsports oasis in the middle of the New Hampshire woodlands, on the little town of Canaan, an hour and a half north of Manchester, New Hampshire. This 1.3-mile (2.09-km) race track is compatible with both the clockwise and the counterclockwise configurations, has 11 turns in total, and features decent elevation changes with several moderately-banked corners along the way. Canaan motor club offers the possibility of splitting the track into separate circuits for running two events simultaneously, as is the case for karting or timed competitions like autocross.  The climate in Canaan is cold and temperate, and it rains consistently throughout the year, even in the driest season, so be prepared to run on a wet surface.

The track layout consists of several easy-flowing turns, intermingled with sharp-angled turns like one, two, nine, or ten. There are five straight segments scattered around the track, and racers experience alternating turns making their tires screech and keeping their hands in the stick. The average speed in the circuit is about 70 mph (112 km/h) for both orientations, and even seasoned professionals racing in this track will be faced with a demanding yet secure challenge.

CCW Notes

The Counterclockwise configuration at Canaan Motor Club reverses the standard flow at this private racing facility in Connecticut, transforming corner approaches across the technical layout while following same trajectory as clockwise operation. Running counterclockwise creates different braking references and apex sighting providing directional variety for members and events. The reversal demonstrates the circuit's bidirectional capability serving Connecticut's exclusive motorsport club community.

Operating counterclockwise at Canaan Motor Club provides fresh mental challenges for members accustomed to standard clockwise flow while utilizing same physical infrastructure maximizing layout diversity without requiring track modifications. Connecticut's New England climate creates seasonal racing windows with operations primarily April through October avoiding harsh northeastern winters. The CCW configuration allows the private facility to offer varied experiences preventing over-familiarity for club members across multiple annual visits, serving the exclusive membership base with accessible permanent circuit infrastructure in Connecticut's northwestern region.
