Rauch Rennstrecke メモ

Rauch Rennstrecke, nestled in the Styrian Alps of Austria, is a relatively young circuit with a rapidly growing reputation in the motorsport world. Constructed in 2015, it was conceived as a testing and development facility, but quickly evolved into a challenging and thrilling racing venue. The circuit's location contributes significantly to its character, offering stunning views and unpredictable weather that can dramatically affect race outcomes.

The track layout is a flowing, undulating design that prioritizes driver skill and car balance. It features a mix of high-speed straights, sweeping corners, and tight, technical sections. The elevation changes are significant, with several blind crests and dips that demand precise car placement and unwavering commitment. Key sections include the fast, downhill "Flugplatz" (airfield) corner and the challenging "Bergauf" (uphill) complex that tests both engine power and chassis grip. Overtaking opportunities are present throughout the lap, particularly under braking for the tighter corners.

Technically, Rauch Rennstrecke boasts a FIA Grade 3 license, suitable for a wide range of motorsport activities. The track length is approximately 4.2 kilometers (2.6 miles), with a width varying between 12 and 15 meters. Run-off areas are generally ample, providing a reasonable margin of safety. The circuit is equipped with modern facilities, including a race control tower, medical center, and pit garages. While primarily designed for testing and development, the track hosts a variety of racing events, including GT championships, touring car series, and club racing. It is also a popular location for track days and driver training programs.

What makes Rauch Rennstrecke unique is its combination of challenging layout, breathtaking scenery, and relatively low-key atmosphere. It offers a pure and unadulterated racing experience, far removed from the glitz and glamour of some of the larger, more established circuits. The demanding nature of the track ensures that only the most skilled drivers can truly master it, making for exciting and unpredictable racing. The circuit’s growing popularity and unique character suggest it has a bright future in Austrian motorsport.
