Experience Sebastian Vettel's incredible battle for the DHL Fastest Lap at the 2019 French Grand Prix. On the very last lap at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, Vettel and Lewis Hamilton fiercely competed for the bonus point and the fastest race lap, with Ferrari ultimately claiming the honor.

Hamilton initially set a blistering 1:32.764, surpassing his teammate Valtteri Bottas's Lap 43 time by over eight-tenths, despite using worn hard tires. However, Vettel had strategically made a second pit stop two laps from the end, fitting a fresh set of soft tires. Hamilton later commented, “I tried anyway, even though the team said I shouldn’t bother. I too could definitely have posted the fastest lap in the end.”

Vettel's counterattack was successful, though by the narrowest of margins. He edged out Hamilton's time by just 0.024 seconds, recording a 1:32.740. This not only secured him the fastest lap of the race but also established a new lap record for Circuit Paul Ricard and marked his first bonus point for a fastest lap in the 2019 season.

The 2019 French Grand Prix highlighted the significant speed advancements in F1 cars. Lewis Hamilton broke his own 2018 lap record of 1:34.225 on Lap 30, and Vettel's final fastest lap was an impressive 1.5 seconds quicker.

Following this eighth race of the season, Pierre Gasly, Valtteri Bottas, and Charles Leclerc remain tied at the top of the 2019 DHL Fastest Lap Award standings, each with two fastest laps, while Hamilton and Vettel each have one.
