Is Virginia International Raceway the hardest track in America to learn? In this episode of Apex Across America, I take my Lotus Emira to Alton, Virginia for a TrackMasters open track day at one of the most revered road courses in the country. We tackle all 3.27 miles and 17 corners of the legendary Full Course — from heavy braking into the Horseshoe and the decreasing-radius trap of NASCAR Bend, through the Snake and the blind, uphill Climbing Esses that break even experienced drivers, all the way to Hog Pen, the corner that decides the lap. With less than an hour of seat time, I chase a 2:15 lap (and make plenty of mistakes along the way), walk a paddock packed with Praga prototypes, a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, a lone McLaren, and a sea of Porsches, sit down with TrackMasters President Chris Fox, and hand down VIR's official Apex Score.
