While at MSR Cresson on a very humid Friday morning, Terry was asked to take some laps in this 2015 BRZ which is setup as a rental track car by Drive At The Limit that houses 3 cars out at this track now. This one had Ohlins R&T coilovers, SPL arms, and 215mm Bridgestone RE71RS tires. There wasn't enough time to make any changes other than setting tire pressures (28 psi cold), and the car was set nearly full stiff on the damping and was very low on fuel.
The tires also had a staggering 45 heat cycles and were fairly cooked - as evidenced by the somewhat low 1.27g lateral (even in this skinny size these tires should produce 1.35g or more lateral when fresher). So it is hard to compare this lap with any Time Attack type setup, as we had a number of variables stacked against a fast lap. There were also some VERY fast race and street cars on track, which kept making attempts at a fast lap impossible.
Terry managed two uninterrupted laps and managed a 1:27.276 best, but later that day the owner turned the dampers down and it helped him lower his lap times. As evidenced by some pictures Amy took the car also could use a bit more camber - again, for a super fast TT lap. But this setup with the damping turned down is likely a very good, stable, fun setup for a rental track car. This BRZ was getting fresh Hankook RS4 tires for rental clients, which is a longer lasting, more durable tire (the RE71RS is an autocross + TT tire, only good for very short stints).
