SpeedSF Dec 21 Event, new PB 1:47.72 reached
It rained in the morning and the sun came out in the afternoon, so the track surface conditions were not optimal.
Modification list:
1. BM3 OTS Stage 1
2. Dixcel FS rotor
3. Dixcel Z pad
4. Castrol SRF
5. Dinan heat exchanger
6. 225 RE71RS (2nd track day + ~5000 miles daily driving)
The new heat exchanger helped a lot. Compared to the previous run with the stock heat exchanger, the water temperature dropped by about 10 degrees Celsius, and the oil temperature also dropped by about 10 degrees. Notably, the cooling was much faster; this time I only needed to cool down for 1/3-1/2 of a lap every 3 laps, whereas before I needed a full lap of cooling for every lap of driving (the temperature performance was similar between the purely stock setup and the tuned setup with the Dinan heat exchanger).
This time I solved the oil and water temperature issues, but there was still a power drop. I suspect it's due to exhaust gas temperature limitations (I will continue to investigate). From a standstill, pulling from 2000 rpm to 6500 rpm causes the EGT to reach approximately 980 degrees Celsius, while the factory limit is 1000 degrees Celsius. Therefore, I suspect that the exhaust gas temperature is limiting the power output (stock GPS top speed before Turn 2 was 112 mph, Stage 1 GPS top speed was 116 mph).
