My fourth track day was at a course that I have avoided because of a few reasons including notoriety for causing oil starvation issues with the FA24 engine. When the opportunity came up to attempt the track with Speed Ventures in the counter-clockwise direction for the GT Radial 86 Challenge series, I jumped at it.
I prepared for the day by running a fresh fill of Mobil1 0W40 instead of the usual 5W30. Ambient temperature was in excess of 90F and I had to do cool down laps to stay below 250F on the engine oil.
My biggest takeaways from the day were to use the curbs more. There is an increased risk of bending a wheel on this track, but avoiding the curbs here costs a lot of time. I also need to focus more on corner exit, getting on throttle sooner to gain time in the high speed sections.
