I went a whole different direction with my setup recently, and it has been very effective for improving my results in autocross. However, I hadn't run a track event on the new setup yet. The balance of the car is more aggressive than before, and I wasn't sure how that was going to work out... especially on a track like Sonoma Raceway!
The day started out a little wet with almost freezing temperatures. So my approach for the day was very conservative, building speed very gradually.
This was a late session after it was getting very cold again, and grip was going away fast. I had decided to stop pushing since I figured there was no way I'd be beating my warmer mid-day times. However, when I loosened up and focused on just enjoying the drive, I somehow improved by a couple of seconds and set my fastest lap time despite the deteriorating conditions.
