This video captures the first track experience in a Lotus Exige S2 N/A at Brands Hatch Circuit, achieving a lap time of 58.0 seconds. The car performed exceptionally well, running smoothly without any issues, and even clearing a recurring Check Engine Light after proper use on the track.
The driver noted the sublime steering and road feel, as well as the excellent grip provided by the new Nitron suspension and Avon ZZR tires. The car maintained great stability at high speeds with minimal body roll. There was a slight brake fade towards the end of one session, but overall, the 190hp engine was satisfactory, though a bit more power on the straights would be welcome. The focus of these cars, however, is on cornering performance.
The driver is pleased with the lap time, which was approximately 0.5 seconds quicker than their MX-5, and looks forward to building more confidence on the limit with additional track time. The Lotus Exige S2 190 (2004 model) features a Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine, an ECU remap for a lower cam change point at 5700rpm, an ITG Carbon Intake, Nitron NTR40 Clubsport suspension (450 lbs/” front, 525 lbs/” rear), an Inokinetic silencer, slotted disks with EBC Yellow Stuff Pads, an adjustable front anti-roll bar, Inkinetic rear toe links, stock wheels, and Avon ZZR tires (29psi hot). The car is also equipped with a Momo Race detachable steering wheel and shift lights.
