This video captures the second practice session of the morning at Driveway Austin Motorsports. The track was progressively drying out, though some wet spots remained. For this session, the car was configured in Track Sport 2 mode, and cones were still present on the track to assist with driving line practice. Five other vehicles were also on the track during this session, with passing permitted only on the main straightaway via a point-by system.
The car demonstrated excellent stability throughout the session. The R88R tires warmed up effectively, allowing for aggressive driving while maintaining caution due to the lingering wet conditions. Despite the traffic, I managed to achieve progressively faster laps, with a best time of 37.31 seconds. The car was consistently pulling between 1.15 and 1.33G in the turns, confirming strong traction.
Following this session, we took a lunch break before commencing the Time Attack, which involved three-lap sessions without cones, aimed at setting the fastest and most consistent times over the afternoon.
I particularly enjoyed this tow hook perspective from the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. While the angle occasionally obscured the turn-in and apex points on some corners, it provided a great overall view. This session served as an excellent warm-up for the main event!
