Not posted for some time as frankly we've had rotten luck racing the K24. Even this race we didn't finish but the car is good and .. if Cadwell had moved the S/F line to the straight before Mansfield it would have been POLE!
I always go full beans on the outlap, that's where the Maxx nickname comes from, I then usually proceed to overdrive until I settle down .. well the car cut out before I had chance.
I don't often post sample laps (as to not give any 'secret squirrel' lines away but this is a bit messy and far from my best so I don't think I'm giving much away. I also posted for the team who did work really hard to get this car ready to race only to be scuppered by some remaining gremlins.
The car is an EP3 Honda Civic Type-R with a K24 engine swap. Despite our team name (Frankenstein Racing) this is not a so-called 'Frankenstein' K24 engine where the block is used from the K20a engine. It does have some 'hotter' cams but it's mainly built for Torque rather than BHP.
We run it is Class C of the MSV Trackday Championship, sadly our assault on the Championship is pretty much done, we didn't manage Round 1 at Snetterton owing to a gearbox problem and we didn't finish this one either, will probably post up the race video st some stage but suffice to say we were gutted.
As the S/F line was not on the way to Mansfield but in it's usual place I did a 1:40.263 on that lap which put us 3rd on the grid (in class), just 0.013 behind 2nd place.
Car was prepared and run by good friend Malcolm Clelland of DMA Motorsport Services, originally prepared by AW Tracksport. DMA worked 14hr days to get the car ready as we had to rebuild gearbox and suspension, amongst many of other things - sadly we couldn't squish every gremlin and two of 'em came out to spoil our day in the race.
