As a Novice driver I always felt slow and was worried about holding up others and ruining their lap/day. I don't feel that way often anymore, different cars have different capabilities and just because your fast is faster than mine doesn't mean that I'm going slow. The 996 needs a bit more work so instead I took the 2007 Miata to Hedge Hollow for the NASA opening day event of 2025. It seems like the big dogs came out for this one and that everybody was driving something with two or three times the horsepower of the little MX-5. I never get into a groove on this lap because I'm constantly pointing guys in road rockets by me. The Miata did well for the event and overall is exactly what I hoped it would be as an alternative car to my Porsche 996. This car is a 2007 MX-5 with the 6 speed steering wheel shifted automatic, it is running MeisterR ClubRace coilovers along with Progress Design Sway bars and AWR links. The tires are Falken Azenis 615s and I am running EBC slotted rotors with Hawk HP-S pads on stock calipers.
