This is my fastest lap from Round 1 of the 2026 NSW Supersprint Championship at One Raceway, running the challenging Shelley Circuit configuration.
Shelley is a deceptively difficult layout. While it may look simple on paper, it’s a very technical circuit where precision, rhythm, and commitment are crucial. Many very experienced drivers struggle to extract a clean lap here, especially with the long loaded corners that really test both driver consistency and tyre grip.
The day itself was far from straightforward. Conditions started very hot in the morning, which made tyre management tricky, and later in the afternoon the weather turned with light rain arriving, forcing officials to cut the event short for safety reasons, under heavy rain.
Throughout the sessions I was also fighting understeer and limited front grip, which made it difficult to get the car to rotate properly through some of the longer corners. Despite that, we managed to piece together this 1:07.036 lap, finishing 9th outright and 1st in RM3 for the round.
