► The MK7 GTI is one of the most fun, capable platforms we've tested in a while. It has the simple essence of a Mark 1 GTI, with all the performance and modern creature comforts you'd expect from a vehicle produced in 2017. We've got plans to address so many different components of the vehicle—from engine, to suspension, to chassis, to brakes—but to see how much of a difference those upgrades actually made, we needed to time a lap with the car as-is.
Our guy Nate Vincent, Director of Motorsport and driver of the #72 Volkswagen GTI TCR in the Pirelli World Challenge series, took the GTI out for a hot lap at our favorite race track, Lime Rock Park. Check out the video below for how it did.
