Kuwait Motor Town North
Kuwait Motor Town (KMT), located approximately 56 kilometers south of Kuwait City, is a state-of-the-art motorsport complex designed to bring international-level racing to the Middle East. Officially opened in 2018, the circuit represents a significant investment in Kuwait's sporting infrastructure and aims to foster a thriving motorsport culture within the country.
The circuit layout is a challenging 5.608-kilometer (3.485-mile) FIA Grade 1 homologated track, meaning it is capable of hosting Formula 1 races. It features a blend of high-speed straights, sweeping corners, and technical sections designed to test driver skill and car performance. Key sections include a long back straight allowing for high speeds, a complex sequence of esses, and tight hairpin bends that demand precise braking and car control. The track has an anti-clockwise direction.
Technically, KMT boasts a sophisticated pit lane complex with numerous garages, a modern race control center equipped with advanced timing and monitoring systems, and grandstands providing excellent views for spectators. The track surface is known for its smooth and grippy asphalt, contributing to fast lap times. In addition to the main circuit, the complex includes a separate karting track, a drag strip, and an off-road course, catering to a wide range of motorsport disciplines.
Kuwait Motor Town has hosted various national and international racing events, including GT championships, touring car races, and motorcycle competitions. The venue is also used for driver training programs and corporate events. Its modern facilities, challenging layout, and strategic location in the Middle East make it a unique and increasingly important destination on the global motorsport calendar. The circuit aims to become a premier venue for motorsports within the region.
