Back at Laguna Seca with the GTS 4.0... and of course, it was another 90°F track day. I must be cursed!
For this trip, I focused on applying lessons learned from last time and testing out the highly regarded DSC Controller I just installed. While I didn't go any faster, the car felt much less on edge. I was finally able to be proactive about getting the car to do what I wanted, rather than just reacting to it. I still fall behind the car sometimes, but that’s all part of the learning process!
Throughout the day, I toggled between PSM On and PSM Sport. Honestly, I see no value in turning PSM fully off for my driving style. When it kicks in, it just tells me I’ve either fallen behind the car or gotten too greedy with an input.
As for the DSC Controller? It likely helped with stability on the track, but it's no silver bullet. Where you really feel the benefits is daily driving and canyon carving. It’s a noticeably better experience in both normal and sport suspension. The car feels incredibly plush cruising around, but the moment you crank the wheel or brake hard, it instantly firms up and feels sure-footed instead of pitching and rolling. Definitely worth the money, and I'll probably tinker with some custom maps later on.
I think I’m done with Laguna for the year—it's just too brutal on consumables and the car in general. My brake pedal was responding a little strangely by the end of the day with some inconsistent travel, so that’s the next project to look into!
