Sanair Super Speedway (Road Course #5) トラックマップ
Sanair Super Speedway (Road Course #5) の詳細、ラップタイム、動画

Sanair Super Speedway, located in Saint-Pie, Quebec, Canada, is a multifaceted motorsports facility steeped in history. Originally conceived as a drag racing strip in 1970 by Jacques Guertin, Sanair quickly evolved to incorporate a paved oval track in 1972, aiming to host a wider variety of racing disciplines. Its name, "Sanair," is derived from the French words "Sable" (sand) and "Air," reflecting the sandy soil and its proximity to an airfield.

The oval track is a unique tri-oval configuration, measuring 0.82 miles (1.32 km) in length. Its most distinguishing feature is the near-flat banking in Turns 1 and 2, contrasting sharply with the significantly steeper banking in Turn 3. This unusual design presents a challenging setup compromise for drivers, requiring a balance between cornering speed on the flat turns and stability on the banked turn. The infield also houses a road course, adding further versatility to the facility.

Sanair has hosted a diverse range of racing events over the years, including NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) races from 1990 to 1992, IndyCar races from 1984 to 1986, and numerous drag racing events sanctioned by the NHRA and IHRA. The track's popularity peaked in the 1980s and early 1990s, drawing large crowds and attracting prominent drivers. While major national series have since moved on, Sanair continues to host local and regional stock car racing, drag racing, and other motorsports events. The track's challenging layout and historical significance continue to make it a memorable venue for drivers and fans alike, solidifying its place in Canadian motorsports history.
