Genesis Coupe

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe, produced from 2010 to 2016 model years, represents Hyundai entry into rear-wheel-drive sport coupe segment, offering choice of turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or 3.8-liter V6 engines. Initial 2010 models featured 2.0T producing 210 horsepower or 3.8 V6 producing 306 horsepower, with 2013 refresh significantly improving 2.0T output to 274 horsepower and upgrading V6 to Lambda GDi direct-injection. For 2015 model year, the 2.0T engine discontinued in North America with 3.8-liter V6 becoming sole engine option. Both engines offered six-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission, with 2.0T paired with five-speed automatic and 3.8 receiving six-speed automatic.

Trim levels included Base, R-Spec, Premium, Grand Touring, Track, and Ultimate variants, with R-Spec models offering performance-focused equipment and reduced weight. The 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec achieved 5.7 seconds 0-60 mph acceleration and 14.2-second quarter mile at 98.4 mph, representing significant improvement over 2010 model 6.8-second 0-60 mph time. The Genesis Coupe competed against established sport coupes while offering compelling value proposition with strong performance, rear-wheel-drive handling dynamics, and comprehensive equipment at competitive pricing. Despite discontinuation after 2016 model year, the Genesis Coupe established Hyundai credibility in performance segment and demonstrated manufacturer capability to produce genuine driver-focused sport coupe.
