After my Recent Action day at castle combe I thought I would do a quick hot lap comparison between the two tyres I have run this year.
The comparison is between the Toyo Proxes TR1, a very capable and well priced high performance road tyre and the MRF ZTR Trackday tyres. Both of these tyres are road legal and are rated for dry conditions.
unfortunately the MRF lap hit a little traffic but overall, was Avery good lap and one with very similar start speeds on the lap; reaching the end of the pit lane at roughly the same speed and as such set it up for a good comparison.
Overall the MRF were a far superior tyre for the track. over the course of the lap they felt far more stable as well as having excellent grip throughout the entire corner. they also allowed for much harder braking which really helped the lap time.
at the end of the lap. the MRF tyres came in over 3 seconds quicker than the Toyo, this is extremely impressive in my books and I would highly recommend them to anyone about to hit the track.
