Notas
The Porsche 911 Carrera RS (964), produced from 1991-1992, represents a lightweight, track-focused version of the 964 generation, created in homage to the legendary 1973 911 Carrera RS. With only 2,282 units produced, this rear-wheel-drive sports car features a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six engine (M64/03) producing 260 bhp at 6,100 rpm and 229 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Power improvements came from carefully selected and matched pistons, a lightweight 12-pound single-mass flywheel, rubber engine mounts replacing hydraulic units, and a reconfigured ECU for higher octane fuel.
Weight reduction was paramount, with engineers removing nearly 300 pounds through an aluminum hood, thinner lighter glass, eliminated sound insulation, and transparent fog lamp covers, bringing the curb weight to approximately 2,698 pounds. Performance figures include 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph, delivered through the G50/10 transmission with closer ratios. The suspension was lowered 40mm with race-tuned shock absorbers, while braking featured cross-drilled discs with four-piston calipers from the 911 Turbo up front and Carrera Cup race car components at the rear. Based on the 911 Carrera Cup race car and produced exclusively for the European market, the 964 RS has evolved from a relatively overlooked model to a highly sought-after enthusiast favorite, valued for its pure driving dynamics and racing pedigree.
