R8 LMS GT4

Anmerkungen

2018: The Audi R8 LMS GT4 was introduced, based on the second-generation Audi R8 road car (Type 4S) but modified for GT4 racing regulations. It retained the naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine with around 495 hp (power output adjusted according to Balance of Performance in different GT4 series). The R8 LMS GT4 included simplified aerodynamics, with a fixed rear wing and reduced downforce compared to the GT3 version, to keep costs lower and comply with GT4 rules. The car used a dual-clutch transmission, making it closer to the production model but with track-focused upgrades like a race-spec suspension, upgraded brakes, and safety features such as an FIA roll cage, racing seat, and harness.
2019: Audi made minor refinements to the GT4 version, including suspension tuning improvements to increase adjustability and help teams better adapt to different track conditions. Additionally, the ABS and traction control systems were fine-tuned based on team feedback, providing drivers with smoother handling, especially under braking and in variable weather conditions.
2020: Further adjustments were made to improve reliability, especially for endurance racing. Cooling systems were optimized, as overheating had been a concern in longer races. Audi also introduced slight adjustments to the cockpit layout to enhance driver ergonomics, making controls easier to access during competitive situations.
2021: Software updates were applied to the vehicle’s engine management and traction control systems, providing more refined throttle response and improved stability at high speeds. These updates were designed to give drivers more confidence on track without altering core mechanical components.
2022: The R8 LMS GT4 received minor updates, primarily focused on reliability and efficiency. New options for brake pads and suspension components were offered to allow teams more flexibility in endurance and sprint race settings. Audi also enhanced the car’s electronics to improve data logging and telemetry, providing teams with more information for optimizing performance.
2023: Audi introduced additional adjustments to make the GT4 car even more user-friendly for amateur drivers. The stability control system was updated, making the car easier to handle on a wider range of track surfaces. The interior received minor refinements to ensure driver comfort and accessibility during longer races.
