Corvette C6 ZR1

Notes

The Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 (2009-2013) represents the ultimate expression of sixth-generation Corvette performance, featuring GM's supercharged LS9 6.2-liter (376 cubic inch) V8 producing 638 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 604 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm. The LS9 achieves over 100 horsepower per liter through an Eaton R2300 four-lobe supercharger running 10.5 psi of boost through a liquid-to-air intercooler, paired with forged titanium connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, eight oil-squirting jets for piston cooling, and a dry-sump oiling system. The 9.1:1 compression ratio and dual-pressure fuel system (36 psi at idle, 87 psi for sustained high-speed operation) contribute to the LS9's exceptional power output.

The C6 ZR1 achieves 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, quarter-mile times in the low 11-second range at 127+ mph, and a top speed of 205 mph, representing supercar-level performance at American muscle car pricing. The ZR1 features extensive carbon fiber bodywork including the hood, fenders, roof panel, front splitter, and rocker panels, along with larger brakes with carbon-ceramic rotors, Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, and distinctive polycarbonate window panel exposing the supercharger intercooler. Weighing 3,352 pounds, approximately 100 pounds more than the Z06 due to the LS9's additional cooling and supercharger systems, the ZR1 set a 7:19.63 Nürburgring lap time, making it the fastest production Corvette of its era. The C6 ZR1 has become highly collectible as one of the last front-engine, naturally aspirated-based (though supercharged) Corvette supercars before the mid-engine C8 generation, offering analog supercar thrills with legendary LS engine reliability and relatively accessible maintenance costs compared to European exotics.
