Mel finished her first season of HPDE driving with the MVP track Time event at Road America in Wisconsin. It was a great event but the weather was pretty far from perfect. This is her fastest lap on Saturday afternoon in the NC Miata. RA is a tough track for a beginner since the speeds are high and the technical areas are still pretty high speed. The cool temps and damp surface didn't help the cause of high speed and high confidence but she still did fine. Next time I'm thinking RA should be a little earlier in the season, with a warm dry track and a bit more experience she will drop these times by a bunch. Garmin says that she and the car are capable of sub 3 minute laps so next year that's what I'm expecting. 2007 Mazda Miata with Coilovers and upgraded sway bars, new Azenis 615K+ tires, Hawk DTC brakes.
