Is upgrading your suspension always about coilovers? Not necessarily. For new generation BMWs like the G82 M4 and G80 M3, the factory suspension is already highly capable. However, when you introduce more power, different wheels, tires, or weight changes, the ability to fine-tune your alignment and suspension becomes crucial, regardless of whether you have coilovers.
Even with just lowering springs on your M4 or M3, adjusting the pivot points and geometries back to the correct relation from the new ride height is essential to unlock your car's true potential. This video showcases our testing of the full range of SPL Parts adjustable suspension components on our G80 M3 Competition, aiming to offer these solutions to the community.
We achieved a 1:55.000 lap time at Buttonwillow CW13 on stock suspension, tires, and with a passenger. After installing the SPL Parts, we encountered an unexpected chassis stabilization code during our track day, which put the car into a 'Crash Safety mode'. This required extensive coding and recalibration of the ride height and steering angle sensors to resolve. We'll be returning to Buttonwillow soon to put down a solid time with everything fully functional.
