This video captures a thrilling lap at Willow Springs Raceway, where the driver, Brett Smrz, pushed his BMW E36 M3 to a 1:26.7 lap time. This was the fastest lap of the day, achieved during the first session despite some traffic on the track. The car, a BMW E36 M3 with an S54 engine swap, was meticulously built by Trinity Autosport and features a range of performance upgrades.
Key modifications include a Jailbreak Tuning engine tune, E36 5-speed transmission, JRZ Motorsports suspension, and Brooks Motorsports aero. For weight reduction, the car is equipped with MA Shaw doors and trunk, along with Lexan windows. Safety is ensured with a full roll cage and Sparco Halo seats. Other notable components are a CAE shifter, Rothsport quick disconnect wheel hub, custom exhaust, VAC headers, and Enkei NT-03 wheels fitted with BF Goodrich G-Force R1 265/35/18 tires. The vehicle weighs approximately 2550 lbs or less.
The driver noted that while this was his quickest recorded lap, he felt personally faster in later sessions. However, warmer track conditions resulted in slower times overall for all participants. Special thanks to Trinity Autosport for their exceptional build and Autosport Racing Syndicate for their support.
