The GHD Ilirska Bistrica racing circuit, despite its name suggesting a European location, is a prominent motorsports venue located in Taiwan. Originally established in 1995 as a small karting track, it underwent significant expansion and upgrades in the early 2000s to accommodate larger racing vehicles, officially earning its FIA Grade 4 license in 2008. The circuit's unusual name is a result of a partnership with a Slovenian company during its initial development phase.

The track layout is a challenging blend of high-speed straights and tight, technical corners. Measuring approximately 2.3 kilometers (1.43 miles) in length, the circuit features 14 turns, demanding precision and skill from drivers. The first sector is characterized by a long, sweeping right-hander followed by a series of quick chicanes, testing a car's agility and braking stability. The second sector opens into a longer straight, allowing for overtaking opportunities before plunging into a complex of hairpin turns and off-camber corners. The final sector is a flowing sequence of bends leading back onto the start/finish straight.
