Round 1 of NZ Superlap 2022, at Taupo (Bruce McLaren) Motorsports Park.
This was my fastest lap for the weekend, 1:38.1. Third every flying lap on slicks. Still getting use to them and the turbo. Now for the racecar driver excuses: Yes the steering wheel is not straight, I knocked the wheel alignment out on a previous session, so it was all sorts of wrong. The engine was protection limited a couple of times, including heading into the far hairpin where my foot was flat but computer said no, for about 3 seconds, notice the improvement of -0.7 seconds disappear. I believed I needed to change early, way to early going down the back straight.
Things that I need to improve on, and actually did in the next two sessions: Brake later into a couple of the corners as there is still more grip. Smoothen up some of the inputs on turn in. Fix the mid to exit understeer. Fix the low oil pressure issue that's causing the engine protection. Get the inlet air temperatures lower.
The car has had a lot of changes and I'm still getting my head around it. She's going to be an absolute weapon once I get her and myself dialed in.
