Today we get to see the new Civic Type R prove itself on Japan’s most prestigious race track – the Suzuka circuit. The track is world-famous for hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix, but as well as for putting drivers’ skills to the test. And now you too get to experience the thrill of the Suzuka circuit onboard the Honda Type R.
The track is highly demanding, with a series of heavy breaking areas and a sequence of very fast “S”s that would challenge even the most experienced drivers and their vehicles. But not only is the Type R Suzuka circuit performance worthy of the track’s reputation – it’s one for the record.
With talented Super GT racer Takuya Izawa taking on Suzuka onboard the new Honda Civic, the Type R completed the 3.6-mile circuit with marvelous poise and elegance – at record speed. The Suzuka record lap time was exactly 2:23.993.
