Experience the initial track impressions of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra during its first track day at Pittsburgh International Race Complex on June 10, 2020. This session was part of the TNIA advanced group.

The driver notes that the safety systems were completely off, and the car was run in full sport mode. Oil temperatures remained stable, not exceeding 114°C (237°F), which is considered good. Tire pressures started at 32 PSI and rose to 37-38 PSI on track. The car is mostly stock, with the exception of 13mm wheel spacers, which caused a 'clicking' sound during hard cornering. The driver also experienced wind buffeting above 85 mph, even with a custom fix.

Despite being a turbo engine, throttle response was not an issue, as RPMs stayed above 3500 throughout the session. The automatic transmission in sport mode provided smooth and perfectly timed shifts. The Supra reached 122 mph on the front straight, which was 10 mph slower than the driver's C7 Corvette, but he admits to braking earlier due to unfamiliarity with the Supra's braking capabilities. The driver was flagged for loud exhaust pops and crackles, which he believes were the cause of a 'flapping sound' reported by track officials.

Overall, the driver was pleased with the Supra's track performance and is looking forward to another NASA track event at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia.
