2022 718 GT4. Track Alignment. 19" Wheels running 265 Front and 305 Rear RE71RZ.
Track day with SpeedSF, ran in their Advanced combined with Race Group. First time with this group, they have everyone in the Advanced group fix supplied transponders to their car for lap timing. Session 2 onwards you are gridded by time. Really liked this, gives you open track for 4 - 6 laps before you hit the back of the pack. Added bonus is you get a slight faster but attainable rabbit to chase in front of you.
Session 1 was a free for all with lots of traffic, no one's been timed yet. Session 2 I am gridded in 7th place behind a track prepped Alpha Romeo, had a great time following him. Session 3 and 4 I am gridded up in 4th place behind a 992 GT3RS, GT4RS, 991.2 GT3 ... all of Porsche's GT cars in their pecking order. Was a blast. Technically set a new PB in Session 3 at 1:53.60 ... cut just 0.04s off last year's time. Was hoping for better. Just means I need more practice and have to go back.
First day with the new RE71RZ, I have run RE71RS for years. Honestly can't say I felt much difference if any in overall grip, will see if they last longer. Unfortunately, the Circuit appears to be under the same maintenance plan as the original track in that they must sweep it just once a year. Turn 1 was difficult to get the car to rotate and accelerate hard out of, it was full of rock debris and rubber marbles, it was a constant greasy slide through the turn. Don't know if it was track or something alignment wise is off on the car but Turn 4 gave me issues all day with a sharp understeer from apex to track out. Unsure if it was something on the track, I have an alignment issue or perhaps these tires require a different pressure setting?
