My fastest lap around Red Star Raceway Anti-Clockwise, which I completed during Practice for the Extreme Festival held in October 2022. Prior to the event, the lap record was set at 2:25.23 (from 2020). There is still much room for improvement; in this example, I lost almost 0.5s in the last section of the track compared to another lap, the car had very worn tyres on, and after the event we identified issues with both the gearbox and engine mapping which reduced performance.

SuperHatch aims to make racing fun, accessible and enjoyable. A SuperHatch Class C car is limited to 65kw and 124Nm wheel power per 1000kg weight (measured at Johannesburg elevation). A dyno power run is conducted following which engines are sealed and no changes may be made to, for example, the head, block, manifolds or engine management system. Other limitations include that the bodyshell and silhouette must remain as per the standard road car, adjustable dampers are not allowed, camber is limited to a maximum of 4 degrees and only 2-wheel drive 4-cylinder cars are allowed. A spec tyre is used, namely the Dunlop Direzza DZ03G H1 (hard) semi-slick tyre. Success ballast is added for top three finishes in the past four races completed.

My car is an Opel Corsa Lite (Corsa B) with a stock Z18XE 1.8L engine (from an Opel Corsa C GSI / Astra H). On the day my car was set at 63,6kw/120Nm, using 95 Unleaded fuel, and I carried an additional 50kg success ballast. As mentioned, both gearbox and mapping issues likely reduced the car's performance on this day.
