The BMW Z4 E85 3.0si Roadster, produced from 2006 to 2008, represented the facelift LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) version of the first-generation Z4 featuring the upgraded N52 3.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-six replacing the previous M54 engine. Producing 265 PS (261 bhp/195 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) at 2,750 rpm from the 2,996cc engine, the 3.0si delivered 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds, 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and quarter-mile in 14.0 seconds at 100 mph with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The rear-wheel drive platform with near-perfect weight distribution provided classic BMW dynamics with curb weight of 1,285 kg (2,833 lbs).

Transmission choices included a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, while the McPherson coil spring front suspension and independent transverse arms coil spring rear suspension with vented disc brakes front and rear ensured excellent handling. The power-retractable hardtop mechanism provided coupe-like refinement with convertible versatility. Fuel consumption averaged 8.6 liters/100km (27 mpg US/33 mpg UK), demonstrating efficiency alongside performance.
