Driving Center Groß Dölln Notes

Driving Center Groß Dölln is a driver safety and testing facility located at Zum Flugplatz, 17268, Templin / OT Groß Dölln, Germany, on the site of the former Templin airfield, approximately one hour's drive from Berlin. The facility is recognized as the largest driver safety center in Europe. The site was originally built in 1952 and used by the Russian military until 1994. The facility features remarkably robust infrastructure, with 1.5-meter-thick concrete runways that were even intended as an alternative airport for the Russian space program.

The infield of the driver safety center features a modern racetrack designed by renowned track architect Hermann Tilke. The main circuit layout measures 2,448 meters (approximately 2.4 kilometers or 1.52 miles) in length and features a mix of fast corners and technical sections. The large site includes special surfaces which can be made wet if required, allowing it to simulate a comprehensive range of conditions for driver training purposes. The facility hosts driver safety courses as well as competitions such as rallycross races. Driving Center Groß Dölln serves as an important testing and training facility for the automotive industry, combining historical infrastructure with modern motorsport facilities designed for both competitive racing and professional driver development.

A+B Notes

The A+B configuration at Driving Center Gross Dolln in Germany combines sections A and B while bypassing section C to create a mid-length layout variant at this modular Brandenburg facility northeast of Berlin. The A+B combination creates specific technical characteristics and distance distinct from individual sections or the full ABC configuration. This variant serves events requiring moderate challenge without the full circuit's extended distance.

Operating the A+B configuration showcases Driving Center Gross Dolln's modular philosophy where different section combinations create tailored experiences. Eastern German climate creates seasonal racing windows operating primarily April through October. The A+B layout provides balanced challenge serving intermediate skill levels, allowing the facility to accommodate multiple groups simultaneously with different configurations matching specific training objectives or event requirements.
