Autódromo Querétaro

Autódromo Querétaro, a modern racing circuit located in Kazakhstan, was inaugurated in 2023, quickly establishing itself as a prominent motorsport venue in Central Asia. Designed with input from renowned track architects, the circuit aims to blend high-speed sections with challenging technical corners to test drivers and entertain spectators.

The track layout features a mix of flowing corners and tight, technical sections. The first sector is characterized by a long, sweeping right-hander followed by a series of esses that demand precision and car control. The second sector includes a hairpin turn that provides overtaking opportunities, leading onto a shorter straight. The final sector is arguably the most challenging, incorporating a banked corner followed by a chicane that requires late braking and a quick change of direction. The final corner is a wide, gradual turn that allows drivers to carry speed onto the main straight.

Autódromo Querétaro boasts a length of 4.8 kilometers (3.0 miles) and is surfaced with high-grip asphalt designed to minimize tire degradation. While the track is relatively flat, subtle elevation changes throughout the lap add to the challenge. The circuit hosts a variety of racing events, including Formula Regional, GT championships, and national touring car series. There are plans to host FIA Grade 2 events in the future.

What makes Autódromo Querétaro unique is its location and the blend of high-speed and technical sections. The circuit’s design encourages close racing, while the challenging corners reward precision and driver skill. The banked corner in the final sector is particularly unique, offering a different dynamic than other tracks in the region. While still relatively new, the track has already hosted several notable races, with lap records being constantly challenged as teams and drivers become more familiar with its intricacies. It has already become a favorite with Kazakh fans.
