When we started racing the M3, in 2017, we had much debate about where it would land on laptime at absolute pace around AMP. First, it was 1:13's on Nitto's. Then, a few setup changes and year later, and a 1:12.9 was achieved (with much delight). However, it was the thought of 1:10's on slicks that really intrigued us... MAYBE an unlikely 1:09? Well, we did all of that... But we NEVER thought a lap time of 1:08.793 (official timing) was possible... and yet, here we are. The data suggests the best possible laptime on the day (with me driving, at least) was only -0.079 better, and I actually did a rolling time (sector/sector rather than start/finish) that was -0.038 quicker. I think this was about the edge of my limits, and I'd like to think pretty close to the limits of the car, as well (although weather is the biggest factor - a cooler morning might yield slightly more). Needless to say, between temporary wooden splitters, running older tires, and the inevitable small driver error, this was the first lap where everything went together perfectly!.. And the hardest I have had to push the car to date (I actually had a small off on the exit of 11 on the next lap, which was fairly similar pace until then). 

Pretty stoked with this! I guess since I forgot to charge all of my gopros and don't have the driver cam on, or the better audio (gopro 7 sucks if you forget to turn on the wind setting, as you can tell), I have to go even faster, next time? One can dream... 

NOTE: This is NOT the outright or series track record! However it is, to our knowledge, the fastest lap by a street based production chassis (not a purpose built racing car) around AMP, ever. Yeah, grey area, and not one that really matters... but let me have this?
