The Audi RS3 Sedan 8Y represents the latest generation of Audi's compact performance sedan, introduced for the 2022 model year featuring Audi Sport's legendary 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine. The engine produces 401 horsepower (294 kW) in North American specification at 5,600 rpm and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque from 2,250-5,600 rpm, delivering power through a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission to Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. Performance is exceptional with 0-62 mph achieved in just 3.8 seconds and top speed electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), with optional dynamic package raising the limiter to 180 mph.
The 8Y generation introduces significant chassis improvements including a reworked quattro all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring that can send up to 100% of power to either rear wheel, enabling a more rear-biased, playful handling character compared to previous understeer-prone RS3 models. The turbocharged five-cylinder engine produces Audi Sport's signature warbling exhaust note, considered one of the most characterful soundtracks in modern performance cars. Weighing approximately 3,583 pounds (1,625 kg), the RS3 combines supercar-level straight-line performance with quattro all-weather capability and the practical packaging of a compact sedan.
