Join Time Attack driver Steven Chan as he discusses his journey with his 2015 Nissan GT-R R35. Acquired in July 2015, Steven quickly transitioned the car from bone stock to a formidable track machine. Early experiences at Fontana's infield course highlighted the need for 93 octane fuel, leading to significant performance gains.
The GT-R features a comprehensive list of modifications: upgraded 4-piston race calipers with Brembo Type 3 pads/rotors for superior thermal capacity, allowing for more cost-effective 18-inch track wheels. Aerodynamic enhancements include Voltex front canards and a Voltex Type 4 1800mm rear wing. Under the hood, the engine boasts full bolt-ons (intake, injectors, fuel pump) and runs on E85, producing an impressive 630 WHP, which alone shaved 2-3 seconds off his lap times. The suspension is fully upgraded with SPL arms and links, paired with JRZ RS Pro 2-way coilovers, meticulously tuned for optimal damping and spring rates. Inside, the car is equipped with a Cusco cage and Bride seats for safety and support.
Steven shares insights into his driving progression, working with a coach for over a year to refine his technique and overcome old habits. His dedication recently culminated in a victory at Global Time Attack, where he set a new record at Streets of Willow. This video concludes with a thrilling hot lap at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, driven by the host, showcasing the GT-R's capabilities.
