NSU Motorenwerke AG was a German manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles and bicycles, founded in 1873. Originally located in Riedlingen, the company moved to Neckarsulm in 1892, where it remained until its acquisition. NSU was a pioneer in Wankel rotary engine technology.

NSU produced a range of vehicles, including the Prinz series of small cars, the Ro 80 (a technologically advanced car featuring a Wankel engine), and various motorcycles. The Ro 80, while innovative, suffered from reliability issues that ultimately damaged NSU's reputation.

In 1969, NSU was acquired by Volkswagen and merged with Auto Union to form Audi NSU Auto Union AG, which was later shortened to Audi AG. The NSU name disappeared from automobiles, but its legacy lives on through Audi's engineering and innovation.
