The Renault Mégane RS 250 is the third-generation hot hatch variant of Renault's Mégane, launched at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show and representing Renault Sport's commitment to front-wheel-drive performance. The RS 250 features a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter F4Rt inline-four engine producing 250 PS (247 bhp/184 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 rpm, delivered to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Performance figures include 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph (250 km/h electronically limited), with the athletic chassis capable of exploiting the turbocharged power delivery.
Available in both five-door hatchback and three-door coupe body styles, the Mégane RS 250 featured distinctive styling with Brembo front brakes, aggressive front splitter, extended sills and wheel arches, rear diffuser with central exhaust outlet, and 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/40R18 tires. The chassis incorporated Renault Sport's innovative independent steering axis front suspension geometry, sport-calibrated electric power steering, and fully disconnectable ESC for track use. The more focused RS 250 Cup variant added stiffer chassis tuning, track-oriented suspension, a limited-slip differential, reduced weight, red-painted brake calipers, and wider 235/40R18 tires on 8.25-inch-wide wheels. The third-generation Mégane RS 250 earned acclaim for its sharp handling dynamics, strong turbocharged performance, and genuine track capability, establishing itself as one of the premier front-wheel-drive performance cars of its era.
