E90 M3 GT4

The BMW E92 M3 GT4, introduced in 2009, represents BMW Motorsport customer racing car designed for GT4-class competition, based on the fourth-generation M3 Coupe. Built to GT4 regulations, the race car maintains the road car naturally aspirated 4.0-liter S65 V8 engine with minimal modifications, primarily featuring an Akrapovič titanium racing exhaust system and catalytic converter. Power output varied based on specific regulations, ranging from 450 hp to 480 hp depending on classification requirements, compared to the standard 414 hp in the road-going M3.

The GT4 package included sequential gearbox replacing the road car 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT, motorsport electronics, Bosch ABS racing system, stripped interior with full roll cage, racing bucket seat, and GT4-spec aerodynamic components while maintaining much of the road car mechanical reliability. The M3 GT4 achieved competition success including a third-place GT4 SP10 class finish at the 2009 24 Hours Nürburgring and class victory at the ADAC Westfalenfahrt race. Designed specifically for amateur drivers competing in various GT4 series worldwide, the E92 M3 GT4 balanced competitive performance with the reliability and parts availability of the production M3 platform, making it an accessible entry point into GT racing.
