Saab Automobile AB was a Swedish automobile manufacturer founded in 1945. Originally part of Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (SAAB), an aerospace and defense company, Saab Automobile became an independent entity in 1990. Saab cars were known for their distinctive design, safety features, and turbocharged engines.
Saab produced a range of models, including the 900, 9-3, and 9-5. Saab cars were often praised for their handling, comfort, and unique styling. Saab also had a strong following among enthusiasts who appreciated the brand's unconventional approach to automotive engineering.
Saab Automobile filed for bankruptcy in 2011. The assets were later acquired by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), which initially planned to produce electric vehicles under the Saab name. However, NEVS also faced financial difficulties, and the future of the Saab brand remains uncertain. The aerospace and defense company SAAB still exists and operates independently.
