997.2 GT3 Cup
Notes
The Porsche 997.2 GT3 Cup was a purpose-built race car designed for uncompromised track performance, primarily in Porsche’s Carrera Cup and other GT racing series. It featured a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine producing approximately 450 hp, providing drivers with a high-revving, responsive powertrain that delivered peak performance lap after lap. Unlike its street-legal counterparts, the 997.2 GT3 Cup was stripped of all non-essential components, boasting a full roll cage, lightweight racing seats, and FIA-approved safety equipment, making it track-ready right from the factory. The car’s wider rear track and larger rear wing, combined with revised aerodynamics, offered improved downforce and stability at high speeds, allowing it to handle with precision on demanding circuits.
The 997.2 GT3 Cup's race-tuned suspension and upgraded brakes made it a formidable contender in any motorsport setting. The suspension allowed for extensive customization, letting teams adjust it precisely to suit different track conditions, while the braking system provided consistent stopping power essential for endurance races. Inside, the car came equipped with updated telemetry and data-logging capabilities, enabling teams to monitor every detail of performance in real-time. With its balanced mix of power, aerodynamics, and race-focused technology, the 997.2 GT3 Cup became a favorite among professional drivers and racing teams, solidifying its reputation as a reliable and highly competitive machine in Porsche’s motorsport lineup.
