The Fiesta ST features a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four engine producing 197 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 202 lb-ft of torque (214 lb-ft with overboost) from 2,000-4,500 rpm, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels through a mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential (optional in some markets, standard in others).
Weighing approximately 2,720 pounds (1,234 kg), the Fiesta ST achieves 0-60 mph in approximately 6.7 seconds while delivering exceptional handling dynamics through its sport-tuned suspension with unique spring rates and dampers, Torque Vectoring Control, electric power steering with sport calibration, and larger brakes. The compact B-segment platform provides nimble, go-kart-like handling praised by automotive journalists globally, with the lightweight chassis allowing maximum exploitation of the turbocharged engine's power delivery. The Fiesta ST won numerous hot hatch comparison tests and awards for delivering maximum driving engagement and handling precision despite modest absolute power figures. The combination of affordable pricing, excellent fuel economy, practical five-door hatchback versatility, and genuinely entertaining driving dynamics made the Fiesta ST one of the most acclaimed hot hatches of the 2010s. Ford discontinued the Fiesta in North America after 2019 (continuing in other markets), making the JA8 Fiesta ST increasingly collectible as one of the last truly affordable, lightweight, manual-transmission hot hatches available before market trends shifted toward heavier crossovers and turbocharged all-wheel-drive performance vehicles.
